Here is an interview with Paul barlow of HSQMA

  1. What do you enjoy most about what you do?

    I enjoy the fact that you are helping employers to achieve there aims and objectives to improve the overall safety management aspect and the targets they set you in order to achieve these goals.

  2. What advice would you give someone just starting out in the your line of business?

    It is really important to keep up to date with any legislation changes and from a consultant?s point of view you must keep your focus in order to ensure you remain competent at all times especially as Health and Safety is such a diverse subject.

  3. What one thing would you do with your business if you knew you could not fail?

    I would probably expand the business by employing other consultants to grow into various sectors of industry.

  4. What do you see as the coming trends in your sector of business?

    With regards to coming trends, I would say the emphasis has to be that Health and Safety in the working environment is here to stay and there will be greater demand on employers to keep up to date with legislation.

  5. Describe the strangest or funniest incident you?ve experienced in your business?


    The strangest incident so far is probably being asked to prepare documentation for a bouncy castle !

  6. What ways have you found to be the most effective for promoting your business?


    The most effective way in my line of business is actually getting out in the market place and visiting businesses and promoting through leaflet distribution.

  7. What one sentence would you like people to use in describing the way you do business?


I would like people to say I was honest , efficient and professional with the service they had received!!
